it can be used on a 3.3 turbo, 3.2 carrera. you will have to get the correct engine sump plate to work with those motors' oil pumps, but otherwise they are basically the same. small differences on engine stud mount positions, lengths, etc, but overall interchangeble

isn't the 3.0 turbo case different than the SC/3.2/3.3 turbo case? I belive wayne mentioned it has 6 flywheel bolts instead of nine?

The early turbo case i believe is the one that can except a smaller crank like the 2.7's i believe. And the sc has a 930 part # on it's case just like the carrera and turbo.

"SC cases same as carrera"- yes and no. in late 1983, porsche came out with the 911sc case that has no sump plate- just like 84 and later 911 and turbo models. Some argue that those cases are stronger. I would agree that if you are building a really strong turbo engine, it would be preferable, but not really necessary . 1978-1983 (early) models had the sump plate design for both the sc and the turbo. All use the same bearings and if building a turbo motor in an SC or Carrera case, care needs to be taken regarding oil pump clearance. the turbo has a huge pump and the case needs internal grinding to clear it

Others are correct regarding the 1975-1977 3.0 Turbo case- it uses the "smaller" 6 bolt crank.
