Fuel POURING!!! HELP!!!

I have a friend of mine's SC while my Carerra is getting a new top; he had mentioned something about a minor gas smell in the cockpit that came and went and asked me if I could check it out. Turns out, the fuel line pictured is POURING (ok, maybe an exagerration) right where the banjo fitting of of the pump mates with the rubber hose. It looks like I will need a new line. My questions are, has anyone ever done this and do you really have to replace the line all the way to the back? From the looks of it, it runs as a contiguous piece the length of the bellypan. Is this the case? Much thanks for any help.

Make sure it doesn't just need a new sealing washer at the pump first, and don't overtighten it. I've been deceived a couple times about the source of fuel weeping. It travels.

The line is one piece. Hope it's the washer!

Matt, I had the similar problem with mine on my SC, after hitting some road debris. It appeared to be leaking at the swag connection of the banjo fitting, but it was just the sealing washer.

Matt, I had this exact same problem this time last year on my Carrera. If it's just a loose banjo fitting, no biggie. Get under there and take look, tighten things up and see what happens.

Now brace yourself. Mine was a leaky line. New line wasn't too bad - around $60. Install was about 10x that much. There's a simple fix and there's the right fix. Simple fix is to just graft on some sort of extension or pressure fitting to cover the leak. Plenty of shops told me they could do it, but wouldn't guaranee the work, since it wasn't really the right way to do it. Proper fix requires replacing the entire line, which runs through the tunnel, requires removal of center console, shifter and handbrake assembly, passeneger seat and is just a huge nightmare. But no nightmare is worse than having a puddle of gas under your car at a red light when someone tosses a cigarette butt out their window.

The shop I had do this job knows I know how to work on my Carrera and they told me it would haven taken Marcesq and me a solid two days to do this job, if we knew exactly what to do. I forget the exact labor charge, but it was a huge job. The photos they showed me of the job were frightening. Make sure you do a lot of asking around before you settle on a fix. Ask JW too.
