Car wont start tip

Hi
yesterday we tried to start the car. The starter engaged and turned the engine over but we did not hear the fuel pump or the fresh air blower running.

we checked the fuses with a meter and they were all good... with the key on though we did not have power to the #12 fuse which in my haynes goes to the starter and to the back of the car fo the window heater and to the fresh air blower.
I jumpered the fuse and the pump and blower worked and the car even started. when i pulled the jumper the car died.

oh, man the key switch must bad i thought, so i began to look under the dash to see how much work that would be.
I traced the wires from the ignition just to get a handle on the switch and i noticed a plug that connects some of the wires going to the ignition switch. this plug was not plugged in. we plugged it in and the car started and that was the problem...

i must have knocked it off with my boots? wonder how many times this has happened and off to the shop it goes for a new fuel pump?

check out the simple things first if i wouldn't have checked it out i would have bought a new key switch.

Gary,
I did the same thing one time when I was putting in a new clutch cable. My head or back or shoulder somehow knocked the connection off the ignitions switch. I found it pretty quickly because I knew where I was working!
