Engine Thermostat
How can I test my engine thermostat. I'm assuming it works fine but would like to know if there is a way to test.
Thoughts?

put it in a pot of water on your stove and heat it up to 83c and watch it open.

Thank you. Didn't know if putting it in water would hurt something that normally sits in oil.

Easy test if it's not out is to run car until it gets to the 190-200 degree range. When it opens up the lines to the front cooler will heat-up.

Guys ... you can't rely on the temp of the scavenge line to tell whether the engine-mounted thermostat is opening or not!
