Front torsion bar foam seal

I am organising the parts to redo the front suspension on my 1969T.
Will I need these seals or are they only fitted in conjunction with
the later aluminum cross member? I cannot find a reference to them on a
steel cross member.

The foamm seals were there on my '73 when I redid everything.

They were pricey little items though - so I whipped out my Exacto knife and some foam I had laying around and made a pair. After all, they are just dust seals so the fit isn't a precise one.

You can replace the seals using two packages of battery post protectors, the ones in green and red you've seen at the local auto parts.

Double them up under each cap. They fit perfectly and are just the ticket.

Remember the red set goes on the right side. The green set goes on the left.
