Carrera 4S
I'm not a fan of the 996, but a brand spanking new Carrera 4S swept by me today, and that is one bad looking hombre.
In my rear view mirror, it looked like a turbo, with those big, menacing air ducts in the front bumper, but when he bolted around me, I noticed it was a C4S. I'm sure it looked so nice because it was red!! I must admit, even the 996 looks pretty awsome in a wide body. I just love those wide body cars.......Dang, now I've got to get a turbo...........:D |
They are cool, heres to the widebody, Cheers, Kevin

Yeah, I'm not a fan of them either, but they are definately the best looking 996 IMO. Mainly because it is the only model that has the red rear reflector strip, like all of the 911's prior.

Fear this. And loving it.
|
What do you mean they have a rear reflecting strip... on a 996?
Huh? |
Yep- the C4s has a reflector strip just like way back in the olden days. It just wants to be an SC.

You guys are getting me to wonder if a new 4S is in the future. From the looks of the rear, it's very nice. Just give these cars a year or two, and you'll see them in the pre-owned section of you dealer. Every time I think I'd want one of these, I get in one and realize that there are somethings that can't be duplicated with any early car's feel. Sure there faster, safer, better equiped. More fun? It would be expensive to spend that kind of coin and find out it's not has enjoyable as my 15 year old time machine. What is the price on one of these, $90k?
Jeremy, can I fit my 8 and 9 Fuchs on this car also?;) |

They sound good too - I was behind one at a recent PCA get together. He got on it in front of me and I felt like I was driving a Honda - which doesn't happen very often... |
Mainly because it is the only model that has the red rear reflector strip, like all o
Hmmm, I didn't notice the reflector strip, but now that you mention it, maybe that's why I like it, as opposed to other 996's. It takes away that heavy look, and really bottons up the rear end.
Sheesh, the little details make all the difference, don't they? |
Yes, I would say that out of any NA 996, the C4S is the only one I like. Although I must say that I'm very partial to the 993 C4S!! :) Happy Holidays, everyone.

I'm willing to bet that like their earlier bretheren, the 996 C4S won't depreciate as hard as the standard issue car. While we'll be seeing 996s in the low $20s soon, I'll thinking the Ss will stay pretty far north of that.

I have a friend who bought a C4s this summer, polar silver/black leather with the sport exhaust . Great fun to follow it in the mountains listening to the sound ! |

Here is a couple of my favorite C4 pics

Those are some S-W-E-E-E-E-T looking rear ends!
|
Whats the option code for the hood-mounted taxi?
|
Paul,
The one on the bottom looks like a Targa (well, a rather smashed up Targa!). |
Rear reflector strip like ALL previous 911's?
I'm going down to my garage now, to take a closer look at my '73. |
