removing muffler and cat - time for the blue tip?
I'm trying to remove the muffler and cat on my 88 to do some work. I soaked the nuts and bolts with pb blaster and put an air ratchet to them, but so far no luck in removing them. is it time for the blue tip (torch) or should i try a hi speed hand grinder (dremel) to get em off?

Try the heat first - much easier and less mess then the dremel. I got mine cherry red and they twisted off.
If that fails for some reason, then hit 'em with the dremel :) |
Hit it with the torch cherry red and they will come right off,use new hardware and a liberal coating of anti-seize when you re-assemble and you won't have problems in the future.

I just cut mine off with an air cut off tool. You will be putting on new ones anyway, right?

You need an air impact, low setting. Not an air wrench. And I agree. Heat will help a lot.
