euro 930
Hey Guys,
I'm looking at a euro 1983 930. What would have been done to this car to make it smog legal in california? What is your guy's oppinion about buying a euro car. I've heard that it is more difficult finding parts for euro cars. I am also concerend with what was done to make it pass smog. I've heard that alot of these 930 were not smog modified correctly and where kind of hack together . Pro's and Con's? Thanks. rc |

I looked into a couple of euro 930s last summer/autumn. The euro guys believe that there's no real reason for there to be a value penalty for the car, and after looking at them, I agree. But you should be doubly careful before you jump in.
The real caveat is that you should have a PPI done by a shop familiar with euro cars and the conversions that had to be done to federalize the car. Also, many of them (esp. the turbos) have had their odos turned back. Make sure of the reputation of the place that did the federalizing -- if it was done wrong, it can make things a lot worse and expensive. There are a number of other threads on the board about valuing and buying a euro-spec Porsche. Good luck.
