73E aubergine sunroof coupe - I would never have predicted that I like the color but both my wife and I like it a lot. The 73E is a ton of fun to drive, even more so than our 993. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a 2.7RS spec motor in back...at least not until next winter.
![]() Happy holidays to all that celebrate at this time of the year.

I needed a daily driver, so I wanted reliable and rust free. I had originally decided to get an SC, but when I realized that I could also afford a 3.2L I went for that and ended up with a G-50 car. The car has been very reliable (not perfect, but exceptional for something 15 years old), and my commute is often the best part of my day.
I love the feel of my car, the steering to heavy to use one hand, communicative, the handling exceptional but something that you have to think about to stay out of trouble, the looks classic and sexy, not over the top like many other exotics, the interior, comfortable, ergonomic, the engineering is top notch. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the stock sound, needs more oomph, but that's relatively easy to rectify. I guess it could be faster too, but then unless you are driving an Enzo, CGT, McLaren F1, Koenigsegg, etc... it always could be faster.

My triple black droptop 83 SC is soooooooooo fun to drive. I am learning to put my mits in the engine compartment giving me satisfaction and saving money at the same time. 911 is a driver's dream.

Most sites said get the newest you can afford, I pretty much did (with my Wife's input on what I (we) can afford). Lots of strong recommendations on the 84 and newer: trannie, motronic, chain tensioners, head studs, etc. Got a Targa as an in between of a coupe and a cab. When I see coupes, I wish I also had a coupe, and when I see cabs, I also wish I had a cab, oh well. Liked silver since I already had a red car.

I have two pratical cars so I wanted a fun car. I have only had the top of a couple of times, but it is oh so fun. I haven't had the opprtunity to really open it up and am still learning to drive it, but short bursts are great.
I would have to say I'm disapointed in the shifting especially 1st to 2nd. I see there is a fix for that, so I will attempt it myself and then call in the rest of the NoVA squad if necessary. Mine is also an unusual color, but when the sun comes out, its a nice look. My brother refered to is as a "gentleman's car." My tweed jacket, driving hat and pipe are kept behind the seats while the car is in motion. ![]() Look for further reports of how I spend my time and $ sprucing her up!

My only gripe is the car really has no dead pedal. On long trips, I slide my left foot under the clutch to stretch it out!
Everything else, including the lack of low end power, is just pure personality to me.

my '73 targa is all i ever dreamed it would be
has the looks makes the noise the handling is sharp, corners well and if that needle goes above 5000 RPM, power curve heaven ![]() it's a bit difficult to start in the morning , but i guess that's doable considering i don't drive often enough (yet) and almost forgot, the Flat 6 makes to much Db's, i can't hear the radio i never bothered to hook up ![]()

I have a black 85 factory turbo-look. I love the car. I agree with VASteve-I hate the 1st to 2nd shifts.

Drive a toyota pickup as a daily driver. I have wanted a Porsche since I was a kid. I bought a pristine 944S2 because I believed in the saying that 'every 911 is a $25k car' and I didnt have the $25k to play the game. Sold the S2 shortly becuase it wasnt a 911. Bought the '73 and took it apart because it needed work. Bought the '72 because I wanted something I could drive while the '73 was apart.

'92 C2 - modified suspension and brakes
I just love the way Miata owners stare with envy, Camaro owners stare with respect, and Mustang owners laugh knowing their car can kick your car's butt any day of the week... until you leave them in the dust and then they just cry. On the downside, working on a 911 is always a battle, and something always seems to go wrong. Andrew

70 T aubergine (I think) coupe, had it all of five days, and so far have driven it everywhere. Chose the car because I had a pretty limited budget, and I love the longhoods. My only complaint is the lack of compliance in the suspension, the bumps hit pretty hard, but new tires should help alot. So far awesome to drive, and easy to work on, really my biggest complaint is I don't have enough cash to do everything I want at once! It's all I expected though, and with a little time and money, it will only get better. It's funny to say, but I have a lot of respect for the car, you can't just jump in and drive it like a Toyota, but it really rewards you when you do something right. I'm going to go hug it right now.

It's a 2003, silver, 0-60 in 7 seconds, all-wheel-drive, 4.6 V8 putting out 240 hp stock, four big doors...
Oh, wait! This isn't the Explorer/Mountaineer forum, is it? Oops!

All Porsches are great. I have a 964 cab because it is both loud and raw, but ey a little more refined than the 3.2. Mine is also much quicker thanks to a lot of engine work.
996 TT always wanted a turbo Porsche. I like having new with warranty and the car is quick as hell. It is also easy to drive in traffic and etc. 996 bought as an every day driver as I was putting about 2k a month on the 996 TT and I would like the keep the 996TT for a while. Love the 996s torque and quickness. Very easy to drive in traffic, warranty, and I love the looks of both the interior and exterior. Great and comfy workhorse for racking up milege. Cayenne is for the wife. Needed an SUV as I have two children ages 7 and 8. I also needed something to pull a 21 foot Mastercraft ski boat. The Cayeene drives like a 911, pulls the boat better than the Tahoe did and is a blast to drive for an SUV. My wife loves it and it was a good way to talk her into a 4th Porsche. She does miss not having a third seat for car pooling.

0-60 in 7 in an Explorer? That's Cayenne S - like performance from a vehicle that weighs more and has 100 horsepower less. Ya gotta eRam on that thing or what?!

Why I chose the model I have? Hmmmmm.....Boxster is a reliable comfortable cruiser that really shows its style on a 95 degree day. 914 because it's a go kart and I like karts. Still have a kart.
Oh wait, this is about 911s. Well, I looked for a year for a car and one found me. I wasn't looking beyond '69 to, say, '79. I almost had a '72 with a 3.0, but I wouldn't come up to the asking price. That one really got my focus down to the early years. All of the cars I considered were projects. I really wanted something that I could understand and work on without special equipment. Rather than install a chip, I would like to find the optimum through mechanical tuning. Anything beyond the CIS 2.7s was not favored. So, my one of my choices showed up one day and I was ready. I've got a lot of work to do. I like it that way. |

7 seconds?! You better reset your GTech and try again. To prove I have too much spare time, I looked it up, C&D had the 239 HP V8 at 0-60 in 8.9. Maybe if you had the Explorer's big brother that doesn't sell and is about to be discontinued, the Aviator, and it's 300HP, if I remember right it does 60 in about 7. My wife's '03 4Runner V6 has 240 HP, is smaller than an Explorer, and it's a little over 8, so I knew something wasn't right. It least it gets 22MPG though.
