Fuchs 16x6 value?

I have a line on a set of 7/8s, and the guy is interested in my 6s. Seems that the hot ticket these days is to uses 6s to make fatties. What's a ballpark for a pair of decent black center 16x6s?

CarreraS2 12-28-2003 09:25 AM

$200?

89911 12-28-2003 09:27 AM

I think the companies that are using them for centers are offering $100/rim. WheelEnhancement bought mine at Hershey for $125/each. If they are true, they might still be buying them. I think anything around $200 for the set is reasonable.

I sold a pair recently for 225.00. Perfect anodize, black wearing thin on the paddles.

Joe Bob 12-28-2003 09:48 AM

All fair prices....beaters can be had for 50 each at the Pomona swap....

If companies are *buying* them for $100/rim, then "retail" private party price should be more than that. At any rate, seems like $250-350 for a pair, add half again as much on eBay.

CarreraS2 12-28-2003 10:19 AM

If you can get $350 for a pair of 16 x 6 . . . you're good!

john walker's workshop 12-28-2003 10:49 AM

$100 has been the going rate for quite a while.

I was happy selling my set of 6's on Ebay especially after Wheel Enhancement offered me $100 each on trade.

Well I've got input from the low end of the poll. I gave Ottos' (JohnW.) a 72' Targa roller with 6x16 Fuchs on all 4 corners for free and he complained that all I gave him was a $1000 headache. Well he parted the roller and sold the shell minus the fuchs for $500. So I guess those Fuchs are worth about neg. -$150 a piece on the low end. You'll have to pay someone to take them from you.

The real stinger was at the same time he was prepping a mag case for a rebuild for me and it came out to be twice the quoted price.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to go there it's just that everytime someone says "6x16 Fuchs" I get a twitch. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1072650980.jpg

$100 a piece and they are plentiful. The guy who got $395 on ebay is my new idol, I paid less than that for my 16x8s.

If you have a set, looks like you should list pronto, there were 11 bids for that $395 set on ebay by atleast two bidders.

I think this board tends to skew towards the cheap side of prices. Denis, you got an insane deal on the 8s. If you can find another pair for that I'll pay you a finder's fee. From my nosing around it seems that straight 6s are getting a bit more in demand by guys who want to turn them into wide ones...

Stop it, you're making me blush.

I think possibly they are worth more than 100 bones per. Here is another auction where they went for over $400 for a pair but that included center caps and a soft socket.

The guy who bought mine did say he was having them widened for an RSR clone project.

That could very well be the case, (6x16s getting more in demand for *larger diameter* and wider custom rims). And I did get a good deal on my 8s, but one was chewed up so I basically paid for one and got one free. Al Reed fixed it good as new, (can't tell which was the bad one anymore), total investment= under $600 for 2 basically new factory anodised 16x8s. Good deals are around if you are a good hunter, maybe not as good as I got, but still plenty of 16x6s around. I think that 16x7s are going to be the next cheap wheels since they cannot be used for donor centers.

I bought four 6 x 16s last Friday for $200 -- all spun up to confirm they were true. Again, it''s probably a case of L.A. prices being way lower than ROW.

I passed on a set of polished 7s & 8s for $600 a couple of months ago because I had no place to store them. Also, I don't really like polished Fuchs. The anodizing is a far tougher finish.

Joe Bob 12-28-2003 04:52 PM

What is your time worth bitcjing about the prices.....?

Polished wheels can be easily re-anodised. Mine were polished when I got them, before anodising they are mirror polished anyways. Part of the process, here is one of my (formerly polished) 16x8s:
