What in a name...Sachs?

Is 'Sachs' an official Porsche part, or are they independant parts manufacturers that do parts for Porsche? Do they make parts for other car makes if this is the case?

Thanks
Mark

Edit...Ok I've established they make parts for other makes of cars.

Cant seem to find any references to any other parts they make but I have this in the car (behind the glovebox) pic to follow

Sachs is a manufacturing brand, part of the ZF group (of gearbox and transmissions fame). Or, at least, that's what appears from a Google search.
Sachs have been a well-known Austrian industrial manufacturing company, famous for their 2-stroke engines, but I don't know whether this Austrian company is the same one as the ZF (German) company.
There is also a company (maybe the same as one or both of the previous ones) called Fichtel und Sachs.

Sachs makes a ton of components. I've seen Sachs mopeds and bicycles in Germany, had a Sachs clutch on my old Herkules motorcyle and they make clutch kits for probably every German car brand. I had one in both my Bimmers and in my old Carrera.

Yep, Sachs is a manufacturing brand, part of the ZF group.

Sachs is a very german last (family) name : The Company was owned by a family named Sachs in schweinfurt ( south Germany ) until ZF ( Zahnnradfabrik Friedrichshafen ) bought them .

In addition, the heir to the Sachs fortune, Gunter Sachs, was one of the last international playboys in the 60s and 70s, dividing his time between St. Moritz, Saint Tropez, and the Carribean. Married to Brigitte Bardot at one time--very glamorous. Not sure what he's up to these days.
