Looking for a shop to fix my speedometer

Do you guys have any recommendations for a shop that fixes VDO gauges? I got this old speedometer that works except for the odometer part. I figure I'd get it fix then maybe eBay it.

I know there's Hollywood Speedo and Palo Alto Speedo but they seem to charge a "Porsche" premium, if you know what I
mean. Sort of like... why go to Wheel Enhancement when you can go to Al Reed. I guess you would go to Wheel Enhancement if you were on the "West Side" and wanted a glass of wine while
you paruse the wheels waiting to order 22" rims for your new Turbo but I woudn't know. heh heh

Thanks in advance!

If you repair the odometer (small cogs) is there any need to recalibrate?

If so how far out could it be if you didnt?

Thanks

Mark

Try replacing the gear yourself. It seems to be a easy fix.

I am in the process of getting info. regarding VDO electronic speedometer. I really don't want to spend $100 to have the speedo repaired. I just repaired a mechanical BMW motorcycle speedometer myself. The gear just pop out. Press it back it, that was it. Any lead to good article on the web?

I replaced the odo gear on two 911 speedos, the hardest part was getting the bezel ring off without hacking it up, and removing the needle without breaking it.
Total time per was less that a half hour. I paid $40 each for the gears.
Nothing particulary complicated about it other that the two things above.

Wayne wrote a tech article on this site about mechancial speedo/odo repair, much of it applies in this case.

The thing is, if you spend it to a speedo house they will paint it, calibrate it, and you won't be able to tell it's ever been apart. If you DIY it will be obvious as soon as the speedo is pulled out of the dash a little. When it is installed correctly the repair is just about invisible.
