Installed flares yesterday

Actually I just helped . A friend came over with his wire feed and we spent pretty much the whole day getting this done . I already had the flares set in place and ready to go . I have alot more respect for people who do welding for a living but I learned alot .Now it's time to prep for paint .

damn that looks like a tough job, and guys like Kevin make it look easy! I never realized how much of the original had to be cut out...wow.

What flares are these going onto what car? SC on a mid year?

I think getting that stuff aligned right is the worst part! Is that why you have to cut high, so the lines match between the old and new fender flare?

This is the only plastic surgery I know of where they ADD to the hips.

Cheers, George

Yes. I'm putting sc flares on a mid year car . Lining up the flare is not to difficult but cutting the old fender off is a little tuff because you need to keep the butt joint gap to a minimum . I didn't learn the part about the gap until after I cut but I was still within tolerance . I also want to thank everyone on this board who posted info on this procedure , it gave me the confidence to tackle this project with the help of some friends . By the way the person in the picture is Nigel , who without his welder I would be at someone elses mercy . Thanks
Jim
