Pics of my accident

As promised I have pics from my accident yesterday (put in a web page due to size) http://www.suplick.com/1986_porsche.htm I quickly posted some before and after shots for reference. As I stated last night, the driver door will not close, the passanger door is pushed in, and rear deck will not close b/c the a/c compressor is now sticking above body line. The car also does not drive straight.

I am off to the emergency room (dr office will not take me due to the accident; must be a liability thing), and will call his insurance company afterwards.

Thanks for the kind words and the advice.

I am feel better today; thinking about the next p-car. Do I go w an early, another carrera, etc.

Chris

That damage is almost EXACTLY what my '84 sustained when I was rear-ended. It was a total...

Hope you're OK, Chris.

Hope you are ok. I would be VERY persistent with the other driver's insurance company. You have a very clean car and they should provide you market value (actual replacement value).

Did you write about this is some other thread? What the hell happened? Was the other driver insured? Any estimates yet? 993 prices are dropping like a rock.

I'm no expert in body work but I can't believe that is not fixable, I know that in regular Ford, GM, etc. body shops can do magic or maybe 911 are too sensitive to any impact?? (no chasis/frame)

Your car is incredible clean, that sucks.

Good luck, hope you're Ok.

BTW The houses around you look like Exton Pa, I have good friends over there, beautiful city.

Bye

no matter what they offer you buy the car back, I am sure you will recover a lot of the value if you part it out, assuming you can work a wrench or have firends who can.

If I were you, I would look for a nice pre smog chassis, transfer everything off you wreck on the that new chassis and build a fun early chassis with a bigger motor. I have done just that and it is a really fun car to drive, a 1970 chassis with a 3.2/915 and carrera suspension.

Look for an early California car if you can so it is rust free and have it shipped. There are quite a few around, and I know there are lots of willing Pelican members who will look at a chassis for you, myself included.

here is my 3.2/915/carrera

Not a good month for 911s, is it?

I have a 69 with all 86 running gear! Do you have some pics of your car posted?

Chris,

Send me a PM. I know some honest guys near you that might be able to help.

the important thing is your body...you don't want the insurance company declaring that a "total."

You should be in good shape. The only battle will be on the "value" of the car. Since it is a low miles car, you should try to get a PCA valuation statement, and find ads for similar miles/years cars out there as comps.

They they total it, you buy it back, find a roller, transfer stuff over...the heart of your car lives on in another body. Kinda like Futurama with the heads in jars.

I feel sick too. Buying it back sounds like a good option if you can't fix it. Makes me wonder about Alain de Cadenet driving those high dollar Ferraris in london traffic.

Chris, I'm sorry to here about your accident. The pictures look as if you took a substantial hit. I would be very concerned about your long term health. I know a couple people that have been rearended that have suffered for years from headaches & back problems. Don't sign any type of release for anyone & I would stongly consider retaining an attorney. The car can be replaced, your health can't. BTW that was a beautiful example of a Carrera.
