The Pelican year that was... 2003

The board came together to (begin to) help finish Pelicanite Barry Bennett's 911 project after his death. 2004 should see the project completed, with the help of some generous Pelicanites.

Leland Pate took up with another sports car brand, but then returned to take the helm of his sub-model-specific world domination plot.

Gruppe B was born, and immediately threw their weight behind a fund-raising event for a very brave little kid.

Pelicanites TRE Cup and KevinP73 began the year with the 12-week miracle of building BB2, and ended the year with a Christmas miracle after Nostatic drove through a big chunk of concrete.

SWBSAM drove into a California mountain, and survived. Then he found a pristine replacement Turbo-look before he'd even gotten his bandages off.

Lots of 3.6 swaps were performed. Each one involved a few surprises (some more than a few), but virtually all of them ended with a big blast of torque.

That's just off the top of my head. What else happened on the board in 2003?

I learned enough about Porsches, 915's, tensioners, head studs and the like to send most car dealers and ebay venders running for cover. Thanks to all.

The eRAM was unveiled to great fanfare and made those high cost 3.6 transplants no longer necessary.

Couldnt resist.

I DIY'ed a fresh 3.2 transplant into my Carrera, bought my 993, sold my Carrera, did my first DE, got the ride of my life at RUF, got a factory tour at Zuffenhausen, drove a few Ferraris. Yeah, what a lame 2003 I had.

A lot of us got to "know" each other a little bit better. The information exchange, wit, and comraderie that exists here rivals most groups of close personal friends, IMO.
I hope everyone's dealings with other members, both verbal and monetary, have been as much fun as they have for me!
HAPPY NEW YEAR PELICANS!

Jack Olsen and his car were both immortalized in print and are now internationally famous.

I had a stroke and lived to tell about it. I also took a 26.2 mile walk in Hawaii to help raise funds to end stroke. I met some really great guys on this board and look forward to meeting most of them soon. I also learned a lot about the Porsche and it makes everything right in the world. Thanks and have a Happy New Year!!!

The 2nd Annual SCWDP CanAm Rainforest Region Round-Up!!!

Then there was that Oyster Run thingy....

Also met Leland Pate, squashing all rumors that "Lee" is actually a wacked-out little old lady with high speed access and a lot of photo's of her "grandson"...

hmm, who started those rumors anyway

Looking over the thoughts of the others on the board....I have come to the conclusion that we are all very lucky and somewhat spoiled by our fine cars.
I wonder how the poor people are making out? ... LOL
Happy New Year.

Rebuilt engine, did a bunch of other maintenence/upgrades, did 1st, 2nd, and 3rd track events, joined POC, attended Dunkel Bros., Rgruppe Monterey, German Auto Fest, both Stunt/Mulholland runs, etc., etc....

Also: TRE and Tyson's + Kevin's miraculous job of building BB2 in time for OTC '03, Jack and Tyson's incredible performance in same race w/ barely "shaken out" car, BB2 in Excellence, (written by Pelicanite Marco), Jack in GQ and taking the ribbing like a man, (as always), The SWB Sam miracle, and so on it goes.....

Just another year in paradise....

Thanks for all the help, advice, and entertainment guys!!!

I can't decide, however, if I like the Palm Springs II pic the best, or the one below it....
