The good, the bad, and the ugly...

The good : Had a pretty good New Year's day shakedown run for my E with replacement rotors up front, new plug wires, and replacement Bilsteins in the rear. Handling is transformed. Saw 110+ MPH (indicated) along a stretch at a secret high speed test location which shall remain, well.......secret.

The bad : The intermittent miss is still present, despite new plugs and wires. The wires improved things, but my problem lies elsewhere.

The ugly : When I returned home, I found that the engine lid (which had never been a problem even earlier this morning) would not open !! The latch is working, but it will not release the hood. None of the easy fixes have worked, so it looks like its off with the muffler. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH !!!

This was posted on earlier, and I've had it happen to me. Try pulling the handle and lifting the lid at the same time. Sometimes this works. If you have long arms, you can reach both the t-handle and the lid at the same time.

Wit61,

RE: stuck hood release -- see if you can finagle a 10mm wrench under the hood and loosen the 10 mm bolts on both sides of the hood post. This worked with my '72 and was a very easy way to open a stuck hood. Good luck!

This happened to me too what i did was get a helper and push in the area where the latch is and have your buddy pull the lever.

Garage
Wit61,
How are you? Where did my old silver '73T end up? And what are you working on now? Nothing new in my garage,...yet! I can't shake this urge to buy a MiniCooper S.
