SC shell weight vs. early shell weight

In planning out a track car, I am thinking of converting an SC coupe roller with backdated front end to accomplish an RS look. 3.2 will go in the back, so in many ways (flares, 915, rust, oil lines, etc.), an SC looks more attractive as a base.

Does anyone know how much heavier a basic SC shell is than say, a 73?

Any thoughts on backdating the front end with glass?

thanks

Shaun

Shaun,

I am not sure if this is what you want,....
I have a 1977 shell, completely stripped, every removeable part removed and the sound proofing removed from the floor pans. PVC undersealer mostly still on the shell.
The weight of the shell is 459 lb.
I would guess the 1973 shell would be about 20 - 30 lb lighter in the same stripped out condition (looking closely between my built up '72's and the '77), I think final weight will have a lot more to do with how much weight you put back than what you started with.

Regards

Hayden
