Looking at a 1986 3.2L there remotely (I live in Phoenix).

I've looked at two cars there. One a Euro Carrera that was barely able to get out of the parking lot and nothing working inside including the tranny. They were asking $14K for it.

The other a late 80's Cab that I suspect had a new speedo installed. Its car fax went through so many states (6 or 7 titles) it would have been hard to prove where it came from or the mileage. No way it was a 36K mile car IMO. But it was priced accordingingly (very high).

If you need some one to drop by for a look see I am only a few minutes away.

I am looking at 1986 Carrera Coupe 3.2L. They are asking $25,900. I am looking to trade a Boxster. It is a dark blue color with black interior and 60K miles. If we start to negotiate further, I will ask someone to please check her out!!

That price seems way way high without even seeing the car. You can find clean straight 86 930's close to that price.

Yes, the price does seem a little high. Kelly Blue Book and NadaGuides show the car in the $18-22K range. It does have low mileage for the year (only 60,000 miles). The pics shown in their ad look really good. I don't know anything about the history of the car (verify mileage, # of owners, tracked/raced or not tracked/raced, etc...)

The price seems outrageous to me. There are so many of these cars out there even with that low amount of mileage. You could easily find an 87 to 89 Carrera with the G50 update for a lower price. I would not even give that car a sniff at that price.

As a reference point, I bought my car 3 years ago with 64k miles and while not perfect it came in very nice condition. I paid 19k for it. That was when the car market was still up.

I don't feel I could get that for the car now with todays market.

Oh and if you happen to miss my sig at the bottom my car is an 86 carrera coupe

Thanks for all the replies. Haven't heard from them today anyways. I have a Boxster I need to trade-in to make my 911 dream come true. The Boxster is a great car, but I am just ready for something different.

Also, it seems that unless I was trading in on a brand new Carrera there is not too much interest in my Boxster. For those listening, I am ready to deal.

So, if you have a 1984-1994 Coupe, Sunroof Coupe or Targa (manual tranny only please) that is black or blue interior with blue, yellow or orange exterior......keep me in mind!!

Phoenix should have dry weather vehicles, correct? Up here it rains every so often. I realize Porsche considers rust proofing important, but even so...

26 grand for a 86 Carrera? C'mon! what have they been smoking?

So where are the dealers in Phoenix holding all of the 1984-1994 Carrera's? :-) A search on autotrader.com for all 911's in this year range within 200 miles of Phoenix yields 3 cars. :-(

My biggest problem is that I need to trade/sell my Boxster to get into the 911. My Boxster has also been listed on autotrader.com for a few months with lots bites but only a few halfway serious.

Maybe I should work with a local dealer to buy a "private sale" 911 and give them some sort of commission? Other advice?

what're you talking about?, I went to autotrader.com and found 77 entries within 100 miles of Pheonix, Az , 84-94 Carreras....many are private sellers.

Maybe there search is screwed up? I live in metro Phoenix city called Gilbert with ZIP of 85296.
