Question about the Grainger Heater blower motor fix
For those who have replaced their engine compartment blower motor with the Grainger one. I just did this. The motor just doesn't put out much air at all. I'm wondering if I got a dud motor. The previous owner of my car had back-dated the heat on both sides. I re-installed the blower motor and duct work for the drivers side only. I left the back dated heat in tact on the passenger side. I figured this would give me good heat on the drivers side while idling at a stop light and good heat on both sides when the revs are up. When the motor is running while the car is idling, I can barley feel any heat comming from the vent on the drivers side. Does this sound right?

I don't notice "strong" heat with a working factory blower, factory heat on both sides, and footwell blowers that work (at least on position 2). Once i get to where I can run it hard up to 4500 or so for a stretch, it gets toasty in the cabin, and the blower keeps up, but it doesn't make my cold car "warm", just tolerable.

The factory blower in my 82sc puts out quite a bit of heat, compare with my previous 74 with the older non blower heater system.

I did the same Grainger motor conversion a few months ago and got the same results. Not much improvement in air flow. Of course, my factory motor has been dead since I bought the car over 7 years ago, so I don't know if the factory motor spins at higher RPM's or not. I'm guessing the Carerra kick-panel blowers would work better, but as I said, it's only a guess.

OK, thanks for the replies. It gets the job done even though it's not blasting air on me. I am just used to my fathers Carrera. Those footwell blowers really do a good job.
