Little progress today
well, while I'm waiting for my Pelican order to get shipped so I spent the morning fabricating an engine cover strut support for the passenger side. I bought the kit for installing two struts to support the extra weight of the whale tail a while ago but I hated te damn thing because it put too much pressure on the driver's side and the lid didn't sit flat.
I copied the part that attaches to the fire wall out of galvanized sheet metal and pop rivetted it on. Then I cobbled up a bracket to attach to the deck lid bracket. A little matte black to finish it off. this was supposed to be just a prototype to use a a pattern to make something real fancy but it looks and works good enough I may just keep it as is. We'll see. After that I cleaned up the engine compartment a little. It's fun standing where the engine is supposed to be, dunno why. Then I tried to fight off the frustration of waiting for my parts by playing need for speed Porsche unleased. I finally got my steering wheel to work (replaced the sound card, bad game port connection). I'm almost a senior factory driver now  too bad I can't find a patch to download and install the Nurburgring (sp) or willow springs. Come on parts, hurry up! Must be the after christmas lull. |

I also built a rt. shock mount for my car. It works fine but in hind site I think I would like a prop rod instead

Sammy,
I was playing Project Gotham Racing I on an Xbox a friend left behind. I can't seem to get past the second level. No way in hell I can pass four cars and get the kudos I need. WTF. That added to MY frustration of waiting for my parts to show up..... But then I had to think of MikeZ who was stuck in L.A. traffic on his way to granny in Palm Springs. Well, that is worse so who am I to complain  Maybe I need to upgrade to Project Gotham Racing II or find a way to cheat. So far the Beetle Rsi is the "fasted car" I have. The Boxter S sucks big time. I want the 911!!!! ingo
