Question
I was working on my new P car today(in the doors adding an aftermarket door lock kit) and came across something I didn't know. What is the key lock on the end of the driver's door for on an 84 Targa?

I would say it was an aftermarket kill switch or alarm!

Isn't that used to enable/disable the factory car alarm?
If you have the owners manual I believe somewhere in there there is mention of this. Also if you have a Bentley maintenance manual I recall elaboration on this switch with respect to enable/disable of the factory car alarm. Regards, Carlton

Yes, it is for the alarm.
It was built by Bosch. I have a new one available if anyone is interested ![]() I have had it stashed away since the mid 80's. Why, I'm not sure.
