Turbo Lines Connection Help!!!!
Putting back my project engine and I am at a lost. Does anyone know where 41 and 44 connect to? I think the vent line (top of the unit goes/connects nowhere. But how about 41?
Please see diagram per below: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/1978-83/1-7-8.JPG Thanks. |
44 is the vent. Can't picture what 41 is. might be a vacuum(?) or oil(?) connection.

44 goes nowhere. It just brings the open part of the wastegate into the engine bay so less moisture and dirt gets in.
41 is the wastegate control line. On my '77, it attaches to the intake manifold, about 2" to the left of the throttle body. You can see the port on the manifold as you look down into the engine bay. |
44 connects to 43 which is a 'control line.' The word control has me worried.

44 connects to nothing. 43 connects to 41. 41 then runs to the manifold (or other pressure source like the intercooler, I have a non-IC engine).
When running, boost pressure at the manifold travels through 41, then 43, into the wastegate. It overcomes the spring in the wastegate to open it and hold manifold pressure to max. Hence "control line." Hope this helps. |
Cowtown,
U r GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! You are correct. Mine has the IC (1986). No wonder I could not find where it connects --- I just checked the IC and found the connection! Thanks a lot. Now back to the COLD garage. P.S., Next time I am in Davis, I'll drop a pack of Heineken. |
