Lucky to be alive - Car indestructible

Yes, as another person mentioned in their thread - watch out for this wet weather while driving those mountain roads.

Right before Christmas, I went out for a drive on highway 9 in Los Gatos, CA., and there was a lot of pine straw from the trees on some of the beautiful windy roads. Came into a turn a little too fast, and tried to brake just before I turned, and the front end and the rear end of the car got away from me. My buddy in his Audi A4 right behind me saw the whole thing, and said his car felt very squirley going around the turn after me.

Needless to say, I did a 180 with zero control, and while spinning trying to gain control, a truck coming up the mountain crossed my path - my rear bumperette scraped along the whole side of his front door and rear fender until we both were able to stop.

Thank God I'm alive, and just a heads up to people on those back roads to keep an eye out for that freshly fallen pine straw and wet roads.

My car sustained a cracked license plate light.

Strange feeling though, I haven't been in an accident in over 20 years, and was kind of weird to talk to the insurance people.

Happy motoring, and have a good new year!

Wow, glad things are ok, relatively. Could have been really ugly.

Wow, that should be a lesson. Glad to hear no one was hurt!

Going up highway 9 is my favorite drive around here.

That's what you call getting lucky!

Having driven 9 many times, with enthusiasm, I know how easy it would to be off in the ditch - or off a cliff - in that circumstance.

Glad you and the car made it intact.

Thanks guys. It has now enthused me to actually think hard and give my car a name. Her name is "Isabella", after Isabella Rosellini, who I think was a babe in her heyday! I now take the time to thank her for taking care of me (the car that is!)

Make sure you say a nice little thank you to God tonight, that could have been ugly.

You taged a truck with the bumperette - well done!

I'm pleased you and the car came out unscathed.
