Help! Zenith Carburetor Flooding Problem I was hoping that someone might have experienced this problem before. I have just installed a set of rebuilt Zenith carbs into a 1971 911T with a stock 2.2. The problem is that it appears that the needle valves are not stopping the flow of fuel in the carbs. When I hook up the fuel pump, gas spills out through the overflow tubes after the cavities have filled. There is a noticable change in the fuel pump motor pitch after the cavities are full, the sound is like the pump is working harder. I have checked the floats and valves, both appear to be ok. I actually installed new (used) floats with new hinge pins. Also, I have tried several washer thicknesses under the needle valves as well as a number of different needle vavles with no luck. The floats appear to float well, verified with the cavities full and the needle valves removed. All of the cavities are overflowing, so I think that its a generic problem. This car has been sitting for a while before I got to it. I have been thinking that perhaps the fuel pressure is too high for some reason or that there is an alternate way for fuel to get past the needle valves. I could not find any details on adjusting fuel pressure in this car. If anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this problem, please reply. Regards, Chris  |
