Help my bro find a good SC or Carrera in the VA area!

I've been after my brother to get a 911 for years... and he's wanted one. But up until recently, the 'accounting department' hasn't been, uh, sympathetic to his dream. Well, things have changed and he thinks he might be able to pull it off. Here's what we're looking for:

SC or Carrera

Budget= less than $15k

VA area, or within a few hundred miles

No Autotrader, eBay, or dealer cars... a well-maintained car with receipts from someone we know would be best

Guards red with black interior

So, if anyone has or knows of a car, please provide info, pics, links, etc. I'm looking forward to helping him jump on the slippery slope!

Honestly your better off helping him find one in CA. The eastern US has less of a population of cars to choose from and prices are higher for "less car" IMO. The best he will probably do is a high mileage SC or Carrera targa in that price range.

If you want one on the West Coast

I have spoken to the owner sounds like a nice well taken care of car.

I know you said no Trader, but this is in VA & private. Probably worth a call ... $14995

I agree with Todd as far as the market here. I probably saved $5k getting mine out of Florida. That coupe Ian posted is probably worth a call to find out more about. If it turns into a possiblity, there are several Pelicanheads in the DC/Richmond area that might be able to help your brother check it out. You might want to post on www.dorkiphus.com/porsche, the local board.

You mean you found something in Florida that wasn't toasted?

Every car I've seen in Florida has been: Dash cracked, seat wrecked, paint pockmarked or salt rusted.

Well, it's an '85, so it wasn't pristine. But it had been garaged so the paint was good. No rust. The seats have seen some sun (typical for older Targas), but no holes. The dash was and is almost like new. May have been replaced, given the contrast with the seats. Needed brake and tranny work, which I knew when I bought it. It was the appearance and generally good condition of the car that sold it.

Good Gawd. That car is STILL for sale? That was up for sale when I was looking last summer!!! There must be something wrong with it that is not visiable in the pictures.

I'm surprised that you found a decent one. Enjoy it.

One PO sent me this. Note the rust on the back panel. Someone has stripped the engine pad off & not painted it & you can see the result. Salt air rust. The car also had seat & severe paint issues. A G50 though . . .

Todd - you're right... we'll definitely expand our search to California. Actually, would prefer California :)

1973911s - Any details on that car?

Also - must be coupe, sunroof preferrable.

I don't think that's rust on the bulkhead; it's what remains of the glue that attached the sound pad. Looks like rust though.

I am hoping to go check it out while I am home for a few days.
