Insurance - Leland vrs Parish Heacock

Since my p car has gone to a weekender, I am looking to save a few dollars and obtained quotes from Leland and Parish. I did not qualify for the others since mine is only 17 years young. American Motorist also quoted via their web site for $328 and I am waiting on their details to come in the mail.

Both programs are at agreed value of $20k, $500k liability but Leland has a $500 ded and Parish is $0, milleage limitation is 5,000 for both. Not sure the ded is that big a deal since I am unlikely to file a small claim.

Leland premium is $400
Parish is $500

The real difference I see is that Parish is not that specific about use for driving to work, "vehicles are not to be used for daily transportation, communting, or business" This would imply to me that an occassional drive to work on a nice spring day would be ok.

Leland has a warranty against no coverage while dirving to work

Appreciate any feedback on experience with both. I have read many posts about Leland being very good.

Bob

Had Parrish and found their customer service a bit lacking. I now have Hagerty.

I've had Hagerty for five years now and really recommend them, nice folks! I had a moment of stupidity a few months ago and drove off with my hood unlatched. Back corners dug in and put two nice hacks in the W/S cowl paint. Called Hagerty and they allowed me to take it to the shop of my choice, and paid the bill in full no questions asked. Made a very unpleasant incident not-so-bad.

I've got Hagerty. Great service. I pay for all three of my "special" cars with Hagerty for the same money as I was quoted from Parish for just the 911.

After 3 years as a customer (non P-car), with no tickets, claims, or accidents, Parrish Heacock doubled my premium last year for no apparent reason. When I asked about it, they told me I was more than welcome to go elsewhere for coverage. After shopping around, I found my new premium wasn't that far out of line with other insurers.

Parrish Heacock's attitude sucked and when this car goes down the road, it will be my pleasure to dump these clowns. If I can torpedo some new customers...all the better.

Anyone know their track rules? I.e do they consider DEs or Autocross tracking and therefore not covered?

I don't think any company covers track use, you usually have to get a seperate policy from a "specialty co."

Both Parish and Leland will not cover DE's. I would prefer to use Hagerty but I do not qualify, must be pre 73. At Parish, customer service seems to be ok at least over the phone and it would seem they would continue in this regard since this is their main line of business and the owners look to be involved clasic cars.

Thanks Shulr. This thread has me thinking it's time to look at insurance. My 87 911 only does about 1K street miles but the insurance goes back to the days of unlimited street miles.

Grundy is worth a look. My premium for my 86 is $240/yr. Typical Ts & Cs that car can't be commuter car, etc. No mileage limit, no proof of garage, no deductible, agreed value is $15k.

Todd, I may have Hagerty and Grundy mixed up but one declined because the p car was not 20 years old and the other was pre 73, in either event, they both declined. Maybe you have been grandfathered with Grundy? They have a great program on paper and Chubb is the ins company which is a plus.

Hagerty wouldn't quote mine, it's off by a year. Has to be 20 yrs or older.
