Cooler fan question...

Running a stock Carrera cooler and a small Setrab (8x11) cooler in the front left fender. Would like to add a 7 or 8" fan to the aux cooler (I ordered both to see which fits better). They come with an interesting solution to installation. There are four nylon "sticks" with slide-on ends that ratchet in place...kind of like tie-wraps. These sticks pass through the fan's frame and then the fins of the cooler. The ends slide on from the other side. The fan comes with 4 of these. How reliable are these things for the long-haul? Can they damage the cooler? Anyone using these?

Will be removing fog lights and putting screens in to get more airflow. I plan to use the foglight wiring and relay to drive the fan (only pulls 4.8 amps). That way I don't have to add an aftermarket switch inside the car...just pull the foglight knob to turn on the fan in standing traffic or on the paddock after a run. Make sense?

Those nylon mount things work very well. Their simplicity and lightweight is deceptive.

I had them on the fan on my race car a few years no problems and easy to use, work with.

I like your idea for wiring the fan. Very clever indeed.

Nylon ties worked well on my installation about 6 months ago; using the Hayden temp relay switch to turn the fan on which also is wired to turn on the front ac fan (I read somewhere this would help keep the car cooler). Now all I have to do to get prepared for the 100 degree summer days here in S Cal (Temecula) is replace my crushed oil lines (OUCH!).
