What happens if you disconnect O2 sensor (CIS)
 

81 SC. Fiddling with the wiring on the left side of the car. Yikes, the 02 sensor connector that bolts to the chassis is disintegrated and the connection fell off!

I passed smog with flying colors last spring. Does this mean the thing fell off since then?

I guess I will have to get a used connector or hack something to re-establish connection. What happens if I drive it with 02 sensor disconnected?

As long as the mixture is not too rich (CO>>2.5 to 3.0% before the CAT),
you should have no problem. The Lambda control unit will seek a neutral value
of .50 volts, and thereby a neutral mixture determined by the mixture adjustment
screw.

George, your still messing around with that?
Get an exhaust gas aanlyzer and set the CO to 3-3.5%. When it's time to get tested set to 1% and drive gently to the testing station.
You will pass the test easily. Drive slowly home, reset to 3-3.5%. I know someone in Arizona who does this every year. He doesn't have a cat either.

It's not by choice man, I found the thing disconnected. Isn't that humorous? I am just wondering if I can hurt anything.

The other thing is, is that connection somehow special? It looks almost like a HV connector. Very strange ...

Old question that was never really answered... if setting timing and mixture on an '82 3.0 would you just leave the O2 sensor disconnected and proceed or hook it up?

I know a few people who run thier SC's with the sensor unhooked. It will go to a default setting that is a little rich. This is good for making power in our cars. It shouldn't hurt anything. Even with the 02 in line the correction value is only 20%
