test 3 pin ign box from 70t

Anyone know how to test a 3 pin ignition box from a 70t? Before I put this up for sale, I want to try and find out its condition.

First. connect +12 volts to the center pin and ground to the case.
The unit should buzz fairly loud. If the buzz is faint, the SCR is shorted
inside. This checks about 90% of the unit.

The next test requires use of an ignition coil. Place the unit with the
cover facing up. Connect a wire from the right pin to the coil. The
other coil pin is grounded to the case of the CD. Insert a coil wire into
the coil and place about a 1/2" from the CD case. Then momentarily
ground the left pin. A spark should occur everytime the ground is
removed from the left pin.

Good Luck

John,

Do you have the OEM Bosch coil that came on your car? If so, you should bundle it with the unit for sale.

Only Bosch 0.221.121.001 or 0.221.121.006 coils should be used with the factory CDI units for the test Loren described above! Ideally, the supply Voltage should be varied from 11.0 Volts to 14.2 Volts and the current drain should be monitored, which should not exceed 1.9 Amps ... per the factory service manual.

Thanks for the test guys, I'll see how it goes. Yes, I have the original coil that goes with it (Bosch 0.221.121.001). If the unit is good, what a good asking price? I've got the engine wiring harness available too.
