Would you do this engine swap (in the future)?

I thought I'd pose this since we are having auto show season and they always have a future focus...

If you were offerred an engine swap for a very moderate price, with say an additional 10 hp over what you have now, excellent torque characteristics, and an engine that weighs 100 lbs less than your current 911 enigne -- would you do it?

Here is the caveat: you get no engine sound at all, so you lose that 911 "ripping paper" sound & feel. What I'm talking about of course is an advanced electric motor power plant, running as a hybrid or fuel cell. Obviously, this is not available now but in 10 to 20 years might well be.

So would you do it?

Oops! I a big typo -- I meant to say an extra 100 hp...

For a traditional 911, probably not. I'd proably never change it until the world runs out of gas.

:-)

I would love to see a new Prosche designed Electric car. Especially if it has better characteristics that the gas powered ones. Probably in 10 or 20 years I'm sure.

Randy - in a heartbeat. I'll try anything once. But here's a caveat right back at you (at least my personal caveat). I'd want to do it in another 911. I like mine sort of the way it is.

So, can I still play?

BTW: 10 or a 100 hp wouldn't matter to me. I like torque. I also like the 100 pounds less feature. Best part, though - eco friendly. :)
