What do you do if...

.. a guy in a hotted car comes next to you in a redlight, you see him prepare for full throttle when green light appears, you already now you can humiliate him and hi's GTI, 4wd or whatever...

The question is, do you race him?

This happens to me almost everytime i'm out cruising the city with my porsche and i said to myself plenty of times "just ignore him, he's a looser..." But everytime the greenlight shows i step on it.
I hate doing that but can't help it..

Porsche are not really built for stop light gran prix, rubber clutch, wait a second until shifting from first into second or else you grind the gears, etc.

Let them go what do you have to prove?

However if you are both racing toward that hairpin curve late brake and jump on the gas early and leave that sucker in your dust.

I can't help it sometimes, but more often I just let them go. Surprisingly I don't get that many challenges, and when I do my wife is often in the car and/or the we are in the middle of traffic in a school zone or something really stupid like that. I can't believe how many people have tried to race me in high population areas that are really, REALLY dangerous. On the few occasions that I have taken them up on it we were in the booneys with no one else around.

You gotta do what you gotta do....just be careful doing it. Plus, if I had a 930, I'd do it.

at the red light, i don't give a **** who pulls up next to me , i'm not racing, my car's to old, the risk is not worth crashing my car to defend it's honour racing against a ricemobile.

if a fellow P driver is next to me, i'll do some sporty accellerating but that's not racing, that's just enjoying the cars, and both knowing that life is good when the revvs are up
:D

I've had some pretty fast cars in my misguided past. As mentioned above MY Porsche is not a drag car, but from 50 mph on up I have embarassed many late model vehicles. I will not put the unnecessary stress on my car to prove a stupid point that won't be remembered in a week or two. Porsches are too expensive, for me, to tear up.

Let them go and make sure they can see you clapping your hands in applause for them in their rearview mirror at the next lights.

I usually sit at the light and don't pull away until a second or two after them. Trouble is, often they just sit there too....

jocke, the only time I used to get the stop light kids all in a tizzy was when I had the E30 M3. I rarely get someone who wants to go in either car. Of course some punk in an NSX goated me into a spirited drive around the river ( kelly drive to west river drive in philly ) after we were done I asked him if his honda could mow my lawn too!
