tried a new mechanic after 10 years….

I tried a new mechanic after 10 years because my next door neighbor who owns the local jag dealer recommended this guy. The shop has a good reputation and has been in the Porsche business for years. I gave em a list of 6 minor items to tackle. When I went to pick up the car they’d only done the first item. Mount and balance my tires on my new polished Fuchs. They fixed nothing else and they had all sorts of tools laying on my targa roof when I got there. As if that was not bad enough, there is a gouge in the front bellows and a ding in the head light trim ring. Of course they deny doing it. I know every inch of my cars and I just got the targa back from the body shop where I had a duck tail fitted. No doubt in my mind it was dinged while they had it. I only blame myself for even thinking of switching shops. So now next week its going back to the my old shop and even has to have the tires re-balanced. Now I am looking for a drivers side front bellows and head light trim ring… Any wanna post an impact bumper targa with poilished petal Fuchs ?

lessons learned.........stick to what you know works, and don't "fix" it if it ain't broke

Sorry to hear of you troubles. I've got a pair of factory chrome trim rings with very little use. If you are interested, I'll sell the pair for $40.00, including ground UPS.

Never take car advice from a neighbor or English car owner.

Trader,

Do you mind mentioning the name of the shop. I have used a local Porsche guy for years and he is definitely one of the best. But, he is also getting older (like all of us) and will probably be retiring long before I sell my Porsche.

So I am always on the look out for good--and bad--shops. Thanks.
