Race Shop in So Cal - need helmet
In Febuary I am going to attend my first DE/Autocross event and I need to get a helmet. I could borrow one, but I know this is something I will want to do again
![]() Any recommendations on where to buy a helmet in the So Cal area? I want to be able to try some on. Any recommendations on the helmet brand/model?

Finding helmets for auto racing is a bit thin in So. Cal
Try Sube Sports in Huntington Beach www.subesports.com or The Simpson Store in Torrance. (Usually have more in stock) http://www.teamsimpson.com/world_torrance.asp Just be sure you try them on for a comfortable fit, every brand fits differently. |

I can't believe you can't just go buy a helmut in Costa Mesa/Huntington Beach. I live in Long Beach, so I drove over to the Simpson store in about 15 min. Baker Precision Bearing in Signal Hill has several on the shelf as well. Let me enter this and come back with their link. Here ya go

Try your local motorcycle dealer. I use an open face helmet for drag racing and ride alongs with my autocrossing buddies. So long as the snell rating is appropriate, the style shouldn't matter to most associations. Full face helmets get rather warm on summer days for simple autocrossing, which is one of the safer forms of racing.
