This puppy has Yokohama 205/55 zr16 front and Dunlop P255/50 ZR16 rear. The car is lowered some, but not drastic. How much exactly I don't know just yet. At full r or l the tire rubs the frame. Is this natural? I remember a time at Summit Point decades ago when I lost it and had the wheel all the way over. If that were to happen with this set-up draging a wheel could cause the car to something unplesent, or at least more unplesent than happened that day. I'm going to buy four new tires, these are shot. What kind I just don't know yet.

The fronts are a correct factory size, the rears should be a lower profile to get the normal diameter, i.e. 222/50, 245/45 are typical for most brands to get the correct rolling radius. Oh, what widths 7 & 8 ???
My car is lowered below its original euro ride height and I need to whack a dip at lock to get the 205/55s to rub. Since you've only had the SC for a bit ( congrats BTW ![]() |

the typical wheels are 6x16 front with 205/55/16 tires and 7x16 rear with 225/50/16 tires. If there are 255s on the rear, I hope it is running 9x16s in the back...that is too wide for a 7" rim.
If you have 6s and 7s, go with the stock 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 setup. |

I mis-spoke, or rather fat fingered it. The rears are P225/50. 6" fronts 7" rear. Thanks for the info. They only rub in a turn. Is that normal?

no, it isn't normal. my car is lowered and I dont' get any rub. Unless your car is really slammed, maybe something is off up front.

what is your ride hight? I have lowered my 911sc quite a bit, (25 1/4" to fender in front, 24" to rear) and have 225/50ZR16 rear, 205/55ZR16 in front. I have NEVER, even driving very hard, rubbed the tires. The tires I have are by no means "low profile" (like my dad's 993 TT) but they look a lot nicer than the factory tire size...

My car originally came with 185/70-15s on 6x15 Fuchs (just as the factory intended) and they rubbed the inner fender at full lock (and I've seem lots of other 911s with that same telltale crescent mark on the inner fender...). The solution? Do'nt turn the steering wheel so far. ![]() Mike

What Mike asked and said; mine rub on full wheel lock as well. I have a stock setup, but I didn't notice it until I had a proper alignment done.
The crappy thing is there is some clean patches where the tire rubbed, so now I have to clean off all the crap in the well to match. Have fun with the new toy....

I'm glad to know my front end is not smashed back enough to cause the front tires to rub. There is a lot of good information on this board but sometimes you have to mine for it. Thanks for responding. One more thing not to worry about.
