Another Garage Project

This guy is selling a SC Targa with only around 48 k miles.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10156&item=2453883 976

He selling it for a friend, but he is also selling a rare Lotus S1 Elan 1600, which is also for a friend.

Why can't I have friends like that, on second thought most of my friends do own Lotuses or Porsches. It just that they are not selling their cars. In fact they keep bugging me about selling my cars to them.

That car has been beat to hell for only 48K miles. If the paint is cracking, I'd guess some bad body mojo too.

Por_sha911 01-12-2004 02:40 PM

On the streets "for a friend" means hot. Hmmmm. Also has a rare Lotus "for a friend"? Better get a really good carfax and history.

juanbenae 01-12-2004 02:49 PM

i thought (and could be wrong) that after 79 or 80 the speedometer on the SC only went to 80mph?? maybe the speedo and the odometer has the 48k. that is a pretty trashed interior for the claimed mileage.

what he dint mention was when the fuel line problem came up the guy lived in the car "for years" in the garage in question...

My 82 SC Targa came with a Speedometer that goes beyond 80- mph.

that lotus also has "45,000" miles and it's obviously been bet to crap.

That car is an 81. I think all 81's DID come with the 85mph speedo. That deffinately looks like the car has plenty more miles on it than the speedo.

surflvr911sc 01-12-2004 05:59 PM

'81 US = 85 mph

SpeedracerIndy 01-12-2004 06:01 PM

Here's a thread about the 85mph speedo years. Looks like mostly 81's but some 80's and some 82's got stuck with them too.

I think someone started to restore the Lotus. Some of the paint have been stripped from the body.

Looks as though someone drove the SNOOT out of those cars,

Where's NOSTATIC?

on-ramp 01-12-2004 07:40 PM

that's bullshchit...there's no way that car only has 48K miles.

most likely the speedometer has been turned back, or taken from another car

BIG RED FLAG

moazam 01-12-2004 07:54 PM

Holy crap....my car looks about 10 times better than that and I have 174,000 miles on it!

Mark Wilson 01-12-2004 09:04 PM

48K ?

Nasty looking.

SRISER 01-13-2004 04:13 AM

I think he meant 248,000 miles. There are hookers with more miles that look better...

Larry Harris 01-13-2004 05:28 AM

I would not be interested in that car at any price. The obvious condition speaks volumes as to the treatment this poor car has received.

Best way to distance yourself from being responsible for mistruths.
