Unhappy Help! I am turning chicken.

I am having second thoughts about the color change on my car. Not because of the color but the total color change has my nervous. I just can't seem to start sanding. I am afraid of the sunroof. Like if I take it out and put it back in it will never work again. I am having thoughts of just getting some Gaurds red and touching up a couple spots.
Help me. I need your support. I feel like I am facing an insurmountable obstacle.
I have set a goal of mid-April for completion. I am scared i won't hit it. This is something I have to do. I just need some inspiration.
I have all the peices I need to do it. I am still waiting on the F/G hood and fenders but worse case I just stick the steel ones back on. Although I cringe when I think about drilling the steel hood for the hoodpins.
Anyway BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
Maybe I just need to have a GruppeB sanding party to get the ball rolling.

Bah! You can do this. How hard is a little sanding? Just think how good it will look when you are done.

Shawn--don't worry--everyone has apprehension when beginning a project that will take 2 or 3 times as long and cost double or more what they project it will! Good idea on the group sanding party though.

Can I believe my eyes!?!

And you call yourself the "Hammer"? Stop this behavior.

Nothing you're planning is beyond your capabilities. The sunroof can stay in the car if need be. Just remove the weather stripping and replace when done.

I had the same feelings. Just start ripping it apart. Once you get into it, you will see it's not that hard, just time consuming. I started on the door jams. I then took trunk lid off and did the inside of that. Same with the engine hood. I then did the outside's. Basically I started on all the parts that you would not see very often. I then did the bumpers, followed by the doors. I left the fenders for the pro's.

Just messin with you Shawn--April seems pretty ambitious but it can be done! You will learn a ton and have the car you want finally so do it now--or you will regret it and it will haunt you every time you look at your car.

Just go to it. my car had 7 layers/4 colors. I tried strippers but they sucked with that much paint. Go at the surface with a 40 or 60 grit disc. Stop when you start seeing metal they cut fast. AFter a once over switch to 120 or so and get a smooth bare surface. Then 180 and prime. Make sure to wear a dust rated respirator and be prepared to have dust everywhere.

Just walk out there and fire up the tools. ONce you start you won't stop.

GO FOR IT!!!

Shawn--

Sounds like your mind's made up, but what on earth would cause you to change from the most beautiful and respected Porsche color?

Shawn, you want the end result to be what your dreams dictate, so go for it!

I too am getting my car painted in spring, and I just had a setback myself, as my jacking point didn't work out right, and I ended up crushing the front of my driver's side wheel well a bit. I just figure that it's simply another obstacle to deal with in the long run, and what the heck. That does not change my overall goal of the nice car I have yet to see before me! TTYL-

Prock prock, actually shawn with that many colors you should think about stripping it, also remember the best way to do a color change is to take the doors off, i also feel you need to take the front and rear window out to do paint the correct way, last thing I like your color you have chosen, but remember, if you have to sell a flat black it will be a negative unless you find the right buyer, Kevin
