cleaning the fuel tank

Hi all
MAy you tell me how to clean the fuel tank, is there a good way to protect against rust ?

i sent mine to a radiator shop after asking everyone around "who's the best". i think they boil it? i dont know, i paid to have it cleaned and coated. the inside came back sweet! the process did wreck the exterior of the tank tho.
