Silver or White??
Iam getting the bodywork tidied up on my 71T over the next few weeks. This will include replacing the P.O installed RS front spoiler with a standard 71 item. Im also going with a 1 piece fibreglass rear. It is an unflared car, and will be trimless..
The car is currently GP White. Its an older respray that wasnt properly prepped i suspect. Its either tatty or 'nicely patinated'. depending on how you look at it.. I dont mind driving tatty cars , but i figure if i fix it now itll be good for another 10 yrs or so... So whats everyones opinion on colour?? White.. the colour of motorsport... original for the car.. would look good with the PORSCHE sill decal.. easy to clean.. and easy for people to see in their rear view mirrors.. Silver.. fashionable at the moment.. early cars do look great in silver... especially with white roundels on the doors and bonnet.. havent seen many trimless silver cars though so not sure how the 1 piece rear would look.. im sure itd look good either way.. struggling to decide though.. All feedback welcome.. rgds Doog

Silver silver silver.....
Fashionable at the moment and for ever!!!!!! Is GP white the original for the car? Or was it ivory at the time? I'm sure somebody here can confirm.... |

My car was white when I bought it. Now it's silver
Silver may be a fashion colour for the time being, but it has always been a classic and very elegant colour. In addition to that it's also a fantastic colour on any 911, early or late style. Remember what previous pelican Jens Werndorff used to say: "Silver is faster" BTW where did he go?

Silver is timeless and always has been for Porsche.

If it has to be silver or white - I vote white with orange Fuchs and an orange Carrera script.

I'd sway towards the original color but if it doesn't bother you going to another color...then...Silver.
I assume your interior is black.

I'm with Jim.
Look at the very limited color options of all Porsches these days. There was a time when one walk into a Porsche dealership and see a new 911 in silver 911 next to a purple 911 next to one painted conda green - and they were not custom colors. The early 911's from 1969-73 came in strong colors which made a statement back in the day - even brown looked good when it was new! Silver does look good, and I have a 73 911E in Silver, but I would have prefered aubergine, blood orange or conda green. In old 911 Porsche land, it's more important to pick a car in good rust free condition rather one based on the color. |

Either color is classic. I never thought I'd buy a white car, but low and behold GP White has grown on me. Look at pics of other cars, and go with the one that speaks to you.
good luck, jurgen |

Is it a trend to be in fashion for 50+ years, or a staple? James Dean must have been a trendsetter with his silver spyder. That trend just keeps going and going.
Anyway, I am obviously biased toward silver, but I also believe in keeping a car its original color. So, my vote is to keep it the original color, if not, then paint is a "trendy" color like silver.

...is that a bit of light shining out under the inner front wheel !!!
... nice. If viper green was not allowed I'd go for gp white with hella foglamps and some type of decals on the car. Silver IS nice but there're far too many silver cars (old and new) on the roads and I know I'd get bored of the colour. White is versatile. You can play around with wheels, decals and interior...... if you have the ££££.
