Rubber Strip on front Bumper 77 911

Hi,

How do you remove the rubber strip from the front bumper on a 77 911. I noticed screws on each side of it. Are there any more?

Is removing the smilely plastic thing a big deal?

Thanks.

i just posted this question a few days ago. i gathered that you just remove it with screws from the inside of the compartment. i havent looked because of other issues. cursory look, i only saw two screws?

here is my old post.

ok, here is my rust issue.

Thanks, I will try the non removing the bumper first. I was amazed at how easy the rear bumper came apart.

Thanks.

I just did this last weekend to put on my RUF front bumper.

For the front peice there is one screw at each end of the rubber and then it just pulls off, there is a backing strip that holds the rest on but you can pull the rubber off of it.

For the rubber smile (between hood and bumper) there are three screws on the under side of each fender that are located under the headlight area. Then there are four screws in the trunk that screw into the rubber. You will have to move your carpet and jack out of the way and they are tucked up towards the area along the trunk latch.

Pretty easy, you just have to get them all out.

Thanks Slider,
Does the rubber slide off by pulling from one end like the rocker panel rubber or come off by pulling forward?

Thanks,

David

I just pulled it straight off, it has a plastic strip connected to the bumper that holds it on. It pops off easy. Have fun.......

Does it go back on easy. I've just been left hooked. I just spoke to my auto body friend. It is going to run about $800 for supplies so I guess I will leave my bumper alone for now.

Thanks for your help.

It should go back on easy, just hook the top on all the way along the strip and the you will just need to pull on the lower side to massage it over the plastic strip.

A little soapy water will help when installing.
