What a great day...
I booked a month of studio time for some great bands, it's a beautiful day with the sun shining, and.... The engine for my car is done! They finished putting the oil pressure relief update kit and intake boots on the motor, it's all together and is delivered to be installed in the car. We ordered paint for the repaired fender (shop mishap left a small dent) and the front valance I'll be buying this weekend. It's taken far too long and this board has been giving me a serious itch to drive my new car!!! This weekend should be cool as well, NAMM show, great electronic music show in Santa Monica, shopping with the wife, and a visit to TRE on Monday to talk suspension. Is this not what life is all about! ![]() JCM

Glad Norm could help out He's been a mentor of mine, I don't think I would have been able to restore my bus or work on the '70 squareback I had without his guidance and assurance. JCM

I checked it out is was a nice car, I didn't check out the interior I was to concerned about my car at the time. The engine being out explains the ride heigth. Couple of questions are you going to Dunkle's? and what color is your bus I was driving to work on Irvine Ave. and had a nice red/orange bus next to me, and just dawned on me it may have been actually you?

My bus is a Westy, and is two tone. White on top and a medium battleship grey on the bottom. It has Baja wheels with light truck tires since I take it camping in the desert. I drive on Irvine Ave. all the time, it's how I get home from work. Jason

If you're interested in seeing his car or learning more about it, you can PM me. I'm not sure he checks on this board too often. I can get the two of you in contact. Edit: I hit enter and it submitted, before I could say buses rule! You and your wife have good taste. ![]()

What about us drummers? I used to go to all of the NAMM shows (LA and Nashville) and always enjoyed them. I just attended the NAIAS in Detroit and it was OK, but nothing like the NAMM show!!

looks like we musicianns all own cars we can't haul our gear in! Any drummer with an early car is OK with me! Try getting an SVT in a Targa!

Last summer, I hauled a small Fender amp in the fron seat and a Fender Precision bass in the back seat. It looked pretty funny sticking up above the Targa bar! I don't haul my drums (1979 Slingerland 11 piece set), I play drums at our church and we have a set there. I bet alot of the folks here are also musicians. A Porsche is similar to a musical instrument in many ways....

I can haul my bass rig, but I don't need an svt. Ashdown head, EA VL110 cabinet, bag of tricks and a couple of Zons. I can't really fit my Epifani cabinet though, so I'm still looking for another used VL110.
Heading to NAMM tomorrow. This will be the 16th year in a row. It's never like the first time though...I never forget the sonic bombardment, and how about 1pm the ghouls start to show up... |

Todd,
I know what you mean, NAMM on the weekdays is wild enough, but Saturdays and Sundays are absolutely crazy, especially in LA! I used to do seminars for the NAMM and got to bring my family to the shows. They put us up in a nice hotel, paid for my airfare and meals, etc... really great people. A new guy is in charge and most of the people I knew at the NAMM are long gone, I really miss the show!!!

actually i seldom use the SVT anymore. Unless we are in a stadium size venue. Mostly I use my "laptop" unit of one Hartke 4X10 and a 3700 head. It does the job fine when it's in the front of the house with the subs and all. I'm glad, the SVT was like moving a refrigerator every time.
