So is anyone besides Van and I going to Daytona next week to watch 935's on the high banks? It's HSR's Daytona Classic 24.

Classic 24 Hour & Daytona Historics – Historic Sportscar Racing

I took this shot two years ago...

Hello,
a good friend of mine is selling a 935 and I am interested in the car. There are various stories about it and the history is not totally clear. As it was delivered as a spare tub to JLP Racing in 1980 and then completed either in the 80s or 90s (various stories) I thought I ask here if anybody knows the car.
The Chassis number is 000 0025. We know from Porsche that it was delivered directly to JLP. Starkey, for example lists the car in his book with various races in the beginning of the 80s. We almost know that this cannot be true. Barth says the car has been completed in the beginning of the 90s and use in HSR races. Other sources say that the bare tub has been confiscated by the Police when John Paul was arrested and has been with the Police until the mid 80s and then been built up.
The former seller said that he talked to Jim Weber, the former Manager of JLP. He said that the car was used as a spare and Training car and had done some races in the beginning of the 80s as a white car, see in the pictures. He also said that it was in Police storage from 1982 until 1994.
The car is in a very good shape and what I like about it is that 100% of ther parts are old original parts, which probably makes it quite unique.
Here is the old ad from around 2011 when my friend bought the car:
PORSCHE 935 K3 - ADP
Does anybody recognise the car? Is there any source where you can find some Information about the HSR races in the end 80s and beginning of the 90s?

Car was put together by Kevin Jeanette as I remember. It was at the HSR 935 Reunion when I had my two 935's there. It was in our group photo I took. This was 2000 +/-
I think the car was built in the late 90's but I would ask Kevin at Gunnar racing.

Darrel Selig owned the car back then

Pretty much common knowledge the car never ran an IMSA or SCCA race and it did not race that weekend but was just there on display.

Re:79 car

I *think* I remember it being at the Panzer event the week after 1993 Rolex 24. After helping two Euro invitational C2 teams with David Glenn we drove to Moroso Park.

It (#79) looked brand new and I thought the late Art Pilla owned it and he offered it to me and said very correct replica. However— I was standing next to the Lowenbrau K4 and he could have been trying to get me to buy that one. FWIW. (I have pictures )

I am curious and I might be mistaken but I don't believe this was Art's (RIP) car. Unless he had more than one.
