Looks easy...

Is it really that easy? Does it come with good instructions? Messing with the electrical system always gives me the creeps!

I do not understand electricity. I distrust anyone who does. (Figure they made a pact with the devil). I think I may be allergic to electrons. Anyway, the instructions provided by Marcus Sucro with his relay kit make it simple. Really.

Yup! (H4 lamp and 80/100 watt bulbs are separate. Relay from M.Sucro)

I have a 76 911. Can I us these headlights?
I just had a low beam die and figure I can upgrade while repairing/replacing. I am inept when it comes to anything electric. Can someone describe the process of using these relays?

Thanks

hey guys...I do plan on installing the Sucro relay now that I understand the potential but I gotta tell you I installed 80/100 bulbs 4 years ago (being stupid) and have never had a problem....

Yes, you can use them..Infact I have them on my '74. Do a good search, we have been through the relay and light install several times in the past few months....Of course, as a lawyer...you might be concerned that the euro lights are not legal for street use in the US......not that anyone would ever know. This is my Sucro relay install, I chose to mount them behind the current relay panel for a cleaner, more stock look, but it is not necessary and most folks don't. See the square/rectangular shapes behind the stock panel..on the far left?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1075085530.jpg

Got the relay

Got my Sucro relay today (thanks Marcus!). Looks fairly easy, except how exactly is the best way to connect wires directly to the battery? And what exactly are ring terminals, and where do I get them?

A ring terminal is a metal ring that you crimp and/or solder to the end of the wire. The 'ring' then goes over the terminal so it doesn't slip off and thus makes a solid connection.

$1.69
Catalog #: 64-3040
(Pricing and Availability may vary outside the contiguous 48 United States.)

Where to Buy
On-line Yes
1-800-THE-SHACK (1-800-843-7422) Yes
In Stores
Find it at your local store: Yes

2 each: 1/4"(for 16-14 ga.), 2 each:3/8"(for 16-14 ga.), 2 each:1/2"(for 12-10 ga.). Pack of 6.

RADIO SHACK has them in a multitude of sizes. Just match up to whatever size wire you're putting them on and the ring size you need. I'm guessing that you need one to go connect to the battery terminal. If so, you don't need one that is the full size of the terminal itself. Look at your battery - you only need a ring terminal to fit the bolt that connects the battery to the rest of the car (hope that made sense.)

Guys, if you just want more light, do what i did. I was going to do the HID upgrade by Sylvania and theni just bought the Silverstar Bulbs for my regular headlamps and foglights. They are just as bright as H4's and look just as good

Superman 02-05-2004 09:10 AM

Negatory. The Hella direct-replacement lights (Bosch makes them too) trhow a light pattern that is different and better than the USA-DOT units.

}{arlequin 02-05-2004 10:23 AM

Lol, nostatic. As great and (I'm sure) accurate that explanation was, it was so DiscoveryChannel-scientifically cool, yet once I read it, all I could think of was: "one point twenty-one jigawatts!!!"

FrankieG 02-05-2004 10:30 AM

Got it

Thanks to Steve911..I thought that was what they were. I'll hit the Shack later.

hmmm I am missing something. I have a 75 with the same fuse panel, but I don't have three relays...just two! Power Windows and Horn...what is the other one in your picture?

DIANA 02-05-2004 10:54 AM

I suggest you:
1-used 4 relays
one for low-right beam
one for low-left beam
one for high -right
one for high-left

2-protecction by 4 fuse,one for beam

3-change all wires for more big

4-change for new conectors beam.

you no want that 2 beams no light at the same time and you is in the night.

Regards

}{arlequin 02-05-2004 11:31 AM

looks like someone has done this before (Diana)

I'd listen to her.

One of the first atomic clocks or as it is also known the ammonia clock. Was developed by the National Bureau of Standards, and was based on the measurements of the vibrations of atoms of nitrogen, oscillating back and fourth in ammonia molecules at a rate of 23,870 vibrations per second.

The modern day atomic clocks are based on cesium atoms. The spectrum of cesium includes a feature corresponding to radiation with a very precise frequency of 9,192,631,770 cycles per second. One second is now defined as the time it takes for that many oscillations of the radiation associated with this feature in the spectrum of cesium. This type of clock is known as a Cesium clock and it is accurate to one part in 10,000 billion, or one second in 316,000 years.

Even more accurate clocks have been developed using radiation from hydrogen atoms. They are known as Hydrogen Maser Clocks, and one of these clocks, at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, is estimated to be accurate to within one second in 1.7 million years. In principle, clocks of this kind could be accurate to one second in 300 million years!

Those lights would last... oh.... about 10 minutes. Rocks, gravel, and highway debris would kill them out here pretty quick. :(

fintstone 02-05-2004 02:33 PM

K9
The third relay is for the fan on my Carrera oil cooler. I used the factory harness and relay and installed it in an empty position. I was going to use factory relays for the headlights too, but the sucro kit price was much better and I cheaped out. The Sucros are behind the panel where the last relay would go, if installed.
