Interior help, please.

I'll make this quick...

Getting ready to install a new carpet kit, but the driver's side screws for the rear seat hinge is giving me fits. It won't budge. My next step is to try and drill it out.

I've never done this before and tips?

Any RS carpet kit owners have this screw laying around that I could buy.

Thanks fellas.

soak it in PB blaster overnight, then try the appropriate size socket-style bit on a ratchet (better leverage/torque).

after PB Blaster: try an impact driver or tap at the end of a large screwdriver wtih a hammer while turning or use a wrench on the screwdriver shaft for leverage.

Eric, thanks.

Milt, actually I was referring to the fact that this screw isn't needed if an RS kit is installed.

Shaun, the thread is wider than any screwdrive they have at home depot, thus its worn pretty good. Thanks, though.

Yes, I know what an RS carpet kit is. Or maybe I don't. You gonna strip out and throw away the vinyl trim under the quarter windows? Will there be no tan left?

Boston,

Just removed mine last night using the wrench on the screwdriver shaft as suggested by Shaun.

Boston,

I reread your posts regarding the HD screwdrivers. The one I used from home depot did not fit the entire length of the screw head but it fit approx. 3/4 of it and otherwise fit the screw head and it worked just fine. Ive PM'd you. It feels good when you get those darn things out.

Thanks, Tim.

The thread is fairly shot, am going to need something wider. Maybe a wood chisel?

If the chisel doesnt work, they make bits designed to back out stripped screws. They go for around $20-30 for the set. Have never tried them but understand that they work pretty well.

good luck
