I'm so pumped!

I bought the two little plastic covers that go over the RS door panel straps the other day. APBIZ came through. "While I was there" and had the door panels off, I figured I'd wash the straps, and most importantly... fix the rattle that was coming from both doors! It has plagued me since I bought the car. Well, easier said than done. I fiddled with both doors for about 6 hours trying to find the source. I even had my bro drive the car while I messed with all of the innards of the passenger door.

Well to make a long story short, I was on my last nerve and decided to put the panels back on. I.e. give up, when I noticed something that I missed. In the bottom of each door are 3 small stocks of metal with threaded holes that are capsulated within small tacked on boxes of sheet metal. I guess they are floating "nuts" that hold the stock door panels on? I took them out, pounded on the door and NO MORE RATTLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will post pics of what I'm talking about, tonight.

I can't tell you guys how excited I am. No more Horsepower or better handling, and the looks aren't improved, but man I pumped. I got rid of the only two rattles and it only took about the same amount of time as it took to drop my motor and trans.

True, true. I didn't think about that. All I could think about is the next owner (after they pry the car from cold dead hands) saying "man, what a hack job" when he tries to convert the car back to stock door panels. You know... the way we all complain about our car's PO's

Chad, that is great. I am soon to backdate my doors by deleting the power windows & mirrors. I am also installing RS panels. I'm sure I'll be chasing some rattles & squeaks for a while when I'm done. I feel sorry for my cars next owner if he uses the car for anything other than racing.

hmmm...now I know what to do! Thanks, I will simply fill the nutplates with a small dab of silicone.

Door panel rattles

Our door panels are so accuratly cut (die cut) that we use the door pocket reataners to secure the panel, Our kits comes with some 4mm Stainless machine screws and trim rings. This problem never occurs with our panels sets. PS Wayne has agreed to carry our line. Contact Eugene an PP for details.

Yea, I've seen your stuff (even saw it yesterday at Pomona). I would have used yours, but the PO installed them. What can I say.
