Rear seat mats

I'd like to take out my rear leather seats (useless anyways) and replace them with just black cloth mats. I know some guys have a rear box covered with a cloth mat instead of the seats, but I'd like to just have the cloth covering the seat wells.

Question is, where can I buy these mats?

Can I also get a rear deck mat to replace the current warped leather upholstery on the rear deck?

I know Rich Waltons spec race car has this exact setup, but I'm not sure where to get it.

I searched the boards, but couldn't find anything.. :/

try these guys:

http://www.appbiz.com/

they sell full RS replica carpet sets which delete the rear seats and parcel shelf and replace them with carpet, maybe if you ask them nicely they'll just provide you with the sections of carpet you require

These folks installed the RS America carpet kit and posted pictures of the procedure. I'll call AppBiz tomorrow for pricing.

RS Carpet Installation

Looks like I'll probably need some sound deadening pads also though.

We stripped out an 87 and replaced everything you spoke about. It was a pain. The toughest part was removing all the old glue and carpet remants that were stuck to metal. We then cut foam to fit into all the crevices to give a smooth finish. The cushions were then redyed (originally red) and replaced for clubracing rules. Its one of those jobs you can do quickly or take your time and do it right. It does get rid of a alot of dead weight, especially the sound insulation. The car has a full cage and will never have rear occupants.

Well, I was hoping to still have some sound insulating material underneath the new matting. This is my daily driver so I'd like to keep the decibels at a normal level and not introduce any more sound/heat into the cabin.

If I install the AppBiz mats with sound deadening material underneath (Dynamat, etc.) is it still going to be noisier than stock?

moazam: check out Bquiet's L-comp or V-comp material.

At least a few people on here, including myself, have used it. Its got a 15-30db drop in noise transmission, and it made my car go from damn near impossible to ride in without ear plugs to quiet enough that you can have a conversation with a passenger if you talk loudly.

I just basically glued it to the rear deck and seats, and glued my RS carpet kit over it.

Your engine pad is going to cut out some of the noise also. Weight savings is a lesson in compromise. This car is a track car, so I would much rather save the 30-40 lbs.

Which material did you use? L-Comp or V-comp? Do you need to use this plus Dynamat and then put the RS Carpet kit over it, or just the B-quiet and then RS Carpet kit?
