Smile FishCop & SteveF_911 at QR

John (FishCop) and I went to Queensland Raceway late last year for a bit of a play.

I have include a couple of pics of some early cars. Johns is the real pretty blue one. Mine is the one with the body role, helped by a bit of curb hopping.

All in all a bit of a rough day. Johns gear box lost a few gears and my car was getting a bit hot after about 3 laps. I was testing some new tyres with a lower profile and the car was spending a lot of time in 5th near the rev limiter.

Oh well I am looking forward to Feb 7th so I can get back on the track again.

Looks like great fun. Both cars are beauties, too. I didn't realize that John had rear flares. Looks sweet. He's running a Sporto, right? And Steve, your narrowbody with duck tail looks great...that's what I'm planning for the 73E, maybe later this year. Do you have an aux. oil cooler in the front fender (wing)?

Hi guys!

Yep, I didn't have the best day after loosing a couple of gears (minor sporto problem!).

Steve just gets quicker everytime... I think I am currently 10 seconds slower than him

Jim, the car had the flares when I bought it. I will be picking up a ducktail for it next week in Melbourne. It will soon be running a RS spec 2.7 on the end of the sporto

Cheers Mark!

Wow, sporto RS replica...amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing it come together, John. Hope your sporto problem is easily resolved.

You can say that again!

How are you upgrading the 2.7 to RS spec? Or are you installing an RS engine. Do tell.

Great photos. I'm digging your narrow body duck, SteveF. Very sweet!

Steve, did you ever find out why it was getting warm after only three laps?

Yeah I found out my gauge is is way out.

It was realy getting to about 210, but the gauge was saying about 240

I will get it calibrated before the next time out.

I will be working less this year so I can spend more time on the car. I want to do some more classic rallies and mix it up with some alfas and MGBs and other under 2000cc 1960s sports cars.
