SC mirror wiring

I'm going to manual (964 aero) mirrors on my 1978 SC. My electric mirror never really worked that great anyway.

Is the wiring to the switch on the driver door a harness that I can remove as a unit? Has anyone done this? Any clever ideas for plugging the hole where the switch is now?

Yes the switch just pulls out, you just need to unscrew the top piece of the door trim (2 screws).

I don’t know what you could plug the hole with, maybe just the mirror cover plate (round plate which covers the top of the mirror switch). As the whole left will have a large indentation too.
