Photo from WGI Enduro Fuel Stop 2003

When the OAT drops into the single digits I think of this day.

Bonus: What am I doing wrong, causing the scrutineer to point it out?

Fuel can not touching the funnel increasing the risk of a static spark?

I believe pca enduro rules require that someone holds a fire extiguisher while refueling.

You can't see it in the photo but that is the board's own John Colasante with a dry chem, with the pin pulled, aimed at the fuel cell. We are both in Nomex and both visors are down per the Enduro protocols.

I am using a metal NATO 20 liter fuel jug, which is prohibited by the rules. The scrutineer is yelling, "Only one can, and that is all!" I was only putting in one can, anyway. I and the crew had a discussion with the stewards later and we agreed that I would study the enduro protocols diligently and invest in some plastic fuel jugs!

John didn't mention he was also smoking during the pitstop. And I don't mean a cigarette...

Ja, I was smokin' dem Hoosiers, fer sure! And the combination of a three-layer suit and my nomex speed jeans had me saying, "Stick a pyrometer in me, I'm DONE!"

My parents gave me one of those "Cool Shirts" for Christmas, I can't wait to try it out. I should fill it full of Starbucks on a day like today!

I think it was the red satin lace underwear. You may have been smokin', but that stuff isn't fireproof!! Safety first you know.

PS Looks like you need a hole in that hood. It would have to be better than crawling into the trunk to fuel up.
