Porsche Crest SSI's for 2.7'S' question-

From what I have read, if I simply buy a set of SSI's designed for a 1969 911T engine, they will simply bolt onto my newer 1975 2.7'S' engine?

I have no emission requirements and want a set of SSI's. What should I order?

Yeah, the P. Parts website claims 1978- on, for oil line differences, thanks-

"Oil Line Update: It is important to note that all cars with cross-over exhaust systems (all 1978-89 911SC and Carrera) require the replacement of two oil lines with two older-style ones when installing the SSI heat exchangers (or any 1974 and earlier exhaust). These lines are part numbers C-107-728-00 (cars with a front-mounted cooler) and C-107-729-10 (no front-mounted cooler) and C-107-739-10 and are available for purchase below."

Rickeolis,
I put SSI's on my '77 which would be the same engine as your car and I think I remember that you can only use back as far as '74. The '73 and earlier take a different set. What I would do is contact SSI yourself and ask. They are a pretty good bunch of guys if you are asking about their products.

Hey rickeolis,
Here's what you'll need:
ssi's with the thin flange - you have shorter studs than the later engines
oil line kit to re-locate oil line (if you have external cooler)
two - in muffler
gaskets
new copper hex nuts
new allen nuts
oil line wrench or large adjustable
a 13mm(I think) socket w/ universal joint adapter
one 13mm offset wrench
one allen wrench - long to fit through access tunnels in exchangers
WD-40 or similar to soak studs
gunk or latex gloves
patience
band-aids

that's all I can think of. The conversion is well worth it. Have fun.

yep,
my 2.7 had the long studs so I needed the thick flange SC SSI..
no problem.. I ordered a plug and gasket for the O2 bung from SSI.

Eventually I'll use the bung to hook up a smog maching for a$$ hole SUVs that tailgate, on purpose to break my balls.. when I'm in the right lane in dangerous territory. So don't be discouraged if you need thick flanges.

I have '74 SSIs on my car. You can come by and look if you like. They were on my 2.7, but switched them to my new 3.0.

Most likely thin on your '75 engine. From my experience, the thicker flange SSI's also have extensions that "plug" into your exhaust ports. I believe the 2.7 has smaller exhaust ports than the 3.0 and the thick flange SSI's won't fit even if you replace the studs. If you buy the thin flange SSI's and realize your studs are too long, you could replace the studs. This is what I had to do on my 3.2 to get the SSI's from my 2.7 to fit.

I have an original early 2-in-1-out muffler, but I want to try one of those Stinger style setups to help save weight and increase flow.
