My 74 911 has Aluminum Calipers with 3 1/2" spacing between bolts. What bigger brakes could be bolted up and use same pattern and rotor? How much would they cost approx?
Thanks |

You have many options and need to evaluate the reason for the upgrade (ie track use, track/street, street). Bill Verburg has a comprehensive evaluation of almost all possible upgrades and where to get some of the upgrades. Our host sells several kits, and there are others as well.
Costs vary from 1k to 4k. You could install Carrera calipers and rotors which would give you thicker rotors, but the same pad area. You might try some of the street/track brake pads if the car is not going to be used on the track. You would be surprised how much better the bite is with some of the performance pads.

the car stops good now. I will be doing so DE this year once I'm finished painting it. The reason I was asking is a friend of mine races vintage alphas and wants the calipers off my car. I told him if I could upgrade for the price he would give me I would do it. He was talking about $500 approx. Thanks

500 for your calipers . . . . can you say take the money and run (unless they are the aluminum calipers then get a couple hundred more).
